Le prix Lewis Thomas pour l'écriture scientifique, nommé en l'honneur de son premier lauréat, Lewis Thomas, est un prix littéraire annuel décerné par l'Université Rockefeller à des scientifiques ou des médecins reconnus pour leurs contributions littéraires significatives. Il met à l'honneur les « scientifiques poètes ».
Initialement intitulé « Prix Lewis Thomas du scientifique poète », il est décerné pour la première fois en 1993 à Thomas. Les écrits des lauréats établissent un lien entre le laboratoire et le monde extérieur, dans l'esprit du recueil d'essais de Lewis Thomas, La Vie d'une cellule.
La cérémonie de remise des prix prend généralement la forme d'une conférence. Les lauréats reçoivent une médaille, une citation et une récompense en espèces.
